The activities carried out by the Department of Informatics aim to implement education, training and university management systems based on modern information technologies, in accordance with the requirements of quality and competitiveness, and compatible with current national and international educational systems.

Another task of the Department of Informatics is the development of ID/FR education, advanced distributed learning and e-learning in "Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University, and the modernization of the methodology of teaching and assessment of students' knowledge by using accepted and verified computer products. The development of advanced distributed learning will be done by following internationally recognized standards in the field, such as Sharable Content Object Reference Model and Learning Technology Systems Architecture, as well as by implementing national and international best practices in the field.

The teaching and scientific research staff of the department participates in the development of didactic programs and in national and international scientific research projects in the fields of informatics and computers.

The Department of Informatics has an important role in the development and modernization of IT services offered to faculties, departments, students and technical-administrative staff, as well as in the development of the University's IT infrastructure.

IT Service

The role of the IT service is to ensure the proper functioning of the IT equipment and services within the "Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University, but also to find new solutions for the "Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University to be always aligned with the new technological trends.

The IT Service is part of the TESA departments of the Christian University "Dimitrie Cantemir" and is subordinated, according to the UCDC organizational chart, to the President of UCDC.

Tasks

The tasks of the IT service include the following:

  • administers and maintains the computer network (hardware and software maintenance), a network containing over 300 workstations, over 40 laptops and over 100 printers.
  • manages the computerized system for the registration of students, master students and other learners at UCDC, which is composed of client-server applications, applications that allow centralized management of tuition, personal and financial data.
  • manages over 50 websites,
  • provides technical support for UCDC staff, teachers and students
  • manages and provides technical support for computer laboratories
  • handles procurement of IT components and solutions
  • Participates with IT technical solutions for new projects developed/implemented within UCDC
  • manages the videoconferencing system and provides technical support for videoconferences with UCDC centers in the country.
