G. Mend-Ooyo – Mongolian Academy of Culture and Poetry

Mongolian poet G. Mend-Ooyo was born and grew up in a nomadic herding family, where his life consisted of the endless steppe, the blue sky with its bright stars, the wise stories and the camel caravans. Mend-Ooyo is one of Mongolia’s leading figures in the revival of traditional culture and artistic techniques. Mend-Ooyo’s writings deal with the lives of nomadic Mongolian herders and their culture. In his specific style, he seeks to express the musicality and richness of the Mongolian language and nomadic society. His works have been translated into over fifty languages.
