“Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Prof. Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia, President of Cetys University, Baja California, Mexico

Gathered in solemn session, the academic community of the University awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Professor Dr. FERNANDO FERNANDO LEON GARCIA, President of CETYS University, Baja California, Mexico and President of the prestigious International Association of University Presidents.
Mrs. Prof. Dr. Corina-Adriana Dumitrescu, President of the University Senate, chaired the event of awarding the high title, noting, in her speech, the signing of the Collaboration Agreement between the Christian University “Dimitrie Cantemir” and CETYS University, signed by Prof. Dr. Momcilo Luburici, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia.
Rector Prof. Dr. Cristiana Cristureanu presented the Laudatio, highlighting the exceptional merits of Prof. Garcia. Prof. Garcia’s strong academic personality took shape throughout his distinguished career, which began with studies in engineering, was completed with a master’s degree in education and was completed in 1980 with a doctorate. As a member of the American Council on Education, he has significant experience in the U.S. and Mexican private and public education systems, in universities within the international network of the Americas, in Europe, Asia and the Pacific region. He is carefully monitoring the quality of the City University brand, implementing programs in the 100 full-time faculties and more than 1,200 online faculties, planning the institutional strategy and facilitating the operationalization of academic models, harmonizing curricular standards and articulating them with the requirements of developing economies.
Professor Garcia had a considerable input in the creation of the Council for Academic Affairs, which monitors the quality of the education system in many countries, integrated City University into the international partnership network, supported the creation of the City University-China Student Association and maximized the position of City University in prestigious educational organizations (IAU, UNESCO, IAUP etc). It has been instrumental in the accreditation of programs and the creation of dual degrees in Business Administration, International Business, MBA. He has published works of major importance for the field of education, in the position of Coordinating Adviser for Undergraduate Programs. He is the holder of numerous prizes and awards from various international universities.
The Honorary Doctor Honoris Causa award ceremony was honored by the presence of numerous personalities from the academic and business circles, as well as members of embassies and diplomats.
On this occasion, the Dimitrie Cantemir Amphitheater was inaugurated.
